Create your own Plant Oasis with hanging planters, stands, and shelves

There’s something undeniably uplifting about a home filled with plants. Whether you have one little pothos or a whole jungle of leafy companions, how you display them can turn your space into a lush, calming oasis while incorporating your own flare. Think of your plants not just as decor, but as living art—each with its own personality and place to shine. Here are some of the most fun (and practical!) ways to show them off.

🌿 Hang Out

Think you don’t have the floor space for plants? Thanks okay, you don’t need it! Macramé plant hangers, ceiling hooks, and window-mounted holders let your trailing plants live their best lives. Hanging planters add height, movement, and in my opinion are more eye catching. Let those beautiful vines dangle like green chandeliers—especially in sunny corners or near windows.

🪴 Raise Them Up on Stands

Plant stands are an easy way to give your leafy friends the soapbox moment they deserve. Tall, short, minimalist, or ornate—there’s a stand for every vibe. Use them to add layers and depth to a room, or to simply keep plants off the floor and closer to the light. They make your plants feel like VIPs (Very Important Plants).

📚 Shelves Full of Life

Floating shelves or bookcases can transform into mini jungles with just a few plants. Floating shelves are great when you’re lacking floor space. If you go the book case route, I suggest the open design book cases over the ones with a back wall and side walls. The open design will allow your plants to still get access to light and can really be turned into a highlight piece of the room that you find yourself randomly staring at and smiling. Mix in decorative items—like candles, books, ceramics, or framed art—for a cozy, curated look that matches your vibe. Aim to stage them in a spot where your plants can soak up that sweet sunshine while looking fabulous. If light is lacking in the area you want the shelves or bookcase, there are also grow lights that you can place above your plants to make them feel like the fine artwork they are.

☀️ Make Use of Sunny Windowsills

A windowsill is prime real estate in the world of houseplants. Line up plants like succulents, snake plants, or aloe vera and watch them thrive in the natural bright light. Succulents are wonderful because they are often in tiny 2″ pots when it’s just one plant and will fit on nearly any windowsill. Line them up on the sill for a super cute display! Though be careful not to over water these babies, succulents are very sensitive to overwatering. Don’t have a deep sill? Add window shelves or suction cup holders to create a vertical garden that feels like a sunlit sanctuary.

📐 Lean Into Ladders and Racks and Display stands

Leaning ladder shelves or multi-tiered plant racks are ideal for displaying several plants without taking up much space. They’re functional, fun, and full of character—perfect for corners, entryways, or anywhere you want to add a touch of green charm.

🙌 Go big!

There are some large plant stand designs that can become a statement piece in your home. There are large but simple plant stands. Plant stands in the shape of hearts, half moons, hour glasses, large circular ones, you name it! I have a large circular one that I adore!

🌀 Get a Little Playful

I love finding new cute planters! Just know that not all planters have to be planters! Try repurposing old mugs, baskets, wooden crates, or even bar carts as unique homes for your greenery. I like using cute planters as staging pots, meaning I keep my plant in the nursery pot (because they often have much more drainage holes than the pretty pots) and just place the plant in the cute planter. When I water, I remove the nursery pot/plant from the planter pot and water it so it can drain freely before I place it back into the pretty pot. Mixing textures and containers adds personality and turns your collection into a conversation piece.

However you choose to display your plants, the key is to have fun and let your style grow right along with them. Whether you’re stacking, hanging, or shelving, your leafy friends are sure to help you turn your home into a vibrant, joyful space—one beautiful leaf at a time. 🌱✨
